Cirque Brisbane Breakfast

Cirque Cafe
618 Brunswick St, New Farm, QLD

On my day off I tend to find new places to have breakfast or lunch. I've been to Cirque and had an enjoyable experience, so why not go again. There is hardly a bad review about this place and I must admit they do produce a good breakfast. I must note I havent been on a weekend, when the line generally runs out the door for those who a are willing to wait.  Im just in patient to wait in line for breakfast. A coffee will just do me fine most days.

Today Cirque was quite empty for breakfast, it was 9:30am and everyone was most likely at work. There were a few people having meetings over coffee's and the likes. We were promptly seated up stairs and took a seat at a long table. There is an enclosed veranda area for those who want to people watch, but I prefer a nice large table. The specials of the day are written on a mirror and they always sound Delicious.

Today I chose to have the special breakie of crispy skin salmon, olive tapenade and poached eggs. My other half chose to have the  omelette with crispy bacon, leek, potato, guyere cheese and a couple of flat whites. The coffee they use is Genovese, I have previously reviewed this coffee at Hello Gary espresso. The flat white was well made, there was the right balance of milk to coffee.

The salmon was well cooked being slightly pink on the inside. The skin was crispy, which I am a big fan of when eating fish. There was a generous portion of roe on top, this aded a nice amount of saltiness to the dish. The eggs were poached perfectly with a nice runny yolk. The olive tapenade was run of the mill, but what can you do with a tapenade to make it mind blowing? I'm unsure how the tapenade  fits into the dish, but was nice with the bread on its own.

The omelette  is quite large and enough for two people. The omelette was light and fluffy with a light leek flavor. They used chicken breast with in the omelette which is shredded, and the bacon was full of crispy salty goodness.  I just wish the omelette had more leek flavor, otherwise it was a good dish.

Would I go back again? Yes in a heart beat. The breakfast options are quite large and they make a good coffee.
