Public restaurant and bar was the first establishment to introduce Brisbane to the so called "dude food" fad. I think they serve more than just dude food, but there are definitely items on the menu that would qualify as such. All the dishes on the menu are designed to be shared, but ultimately there are a few favourites that ones self could easily devour. They don't only serve great food but make a mean cocktail and have a reasonable wine list at reasonable prices.
We were a little hungry on the night so we decided to order the famous texus beef brisket, prawn and chorizo , wagyu beef tataki, swordfish crab wiht a chilli prawn cracker and Salt n Vinegar fries. I would have also ordered the duck egg truffle toast but my other half wouldn't help me eat it. Ah well there is always next time.
First up was the prawn chorizo and pequillo dish. This is quite a small dish and very light, thus its good for a starter. The prawn were small but nicely seasoned and a good match with the saltiness of the chorizo. Nothing ground breaking but a good dish.
The swordfish with crab was next in line. The sword fish was cooked well, still nice a juicey. The crab was sweet and went well with the swordfish, the chili prawn cracker was quite hot so its best consumed in small portions. I forget what the sauce was but everything tied in very well together. Its a decent size dish for two people to share.
Would I go back? For Sure
